Job Description:

The University of Florida Lastinger Center for Learning’s mission is to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and childcare. Responsibilities:

Budget Support

  • Manage and coordinate financial activities including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting.

  • Assist in developing budget proposals and financial plans for upcoming initiatives and projects.

  • Coordinate budget forecasting efforts, review budget requests, manage fund allocations, and oversee financial management of accounts.

  • Monitor and reconcile funding sources and balances, providing regular updates to relevant stakeholders.

  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to interpret policies, support decision-making, and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

  • Provide budget information and training as needed for staff members and liaisons.

  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to leadership on budget performance and financial status.

Fiscal Support & Logistics

  • Assist in planning and executing payroll distributions for Faculty, Teams, and OPS positions.

  • Coordinate procurement of materials for Lastinger Center activities, ensuring accurate documentation for payment processing.

  • Manage travel requests and arrangements for Lastinger Associates, adhering to UF travel policies.

  • Make strategic recommendations to leadership to optimize financial goals and objectives.

  • Provide logistical support for financial transactions, including invoice processing, account reconciliation, and financial documentation preparation.

Pre-Post Award Support

  • Serve as a key contact for sponsored research with the College’s Office of Educational Research and Post-Award Shared Services, supporting proposal processing and post-award management.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and best practices in financial transactions.

  • Track and manage encumbered funds for long-term commitments spanning fiscal years.

  • Assist in generating invoices for vendors/suppliers and managing payment requests.

  • Collaborate with Post Award Shared Services Office and Lastinger Business Team to ensure funding compliance and regulatory adherence.

Expected Salary:

$65,000 - $75,000

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field and four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business environment and flexibility in learning new skills to meet changing needs.

  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel.

  • Experience using University of Florida financial software and tools
