Exciting Opportunity for a General Manager Projects – Bare Shaft.

As a General Manager for Projects – Bare shaft, you will direct, lead and manage the efficient operation of the Project function ensuring delivery of products on time and to specification, whilst managing cashflow and margins. You will drive continual improvement throughout the value stream from sales engagement through project execution and long-term aftermarket sustainability. You will also coach, develop and mentor projects team members fostering an environment of continuous learning and improvement to adopt best practice across the project function.

This is a permanent position working 37 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and tracking of all projects from beginning to end.

  • Direct and manage project development from initiation to closure, ensuring that projects are completed on time, to scope and within budget.

  • Manage a team of project engineers, providing guidance, feedback, and promoting professional development.

  • Work collaborative with other functions to develop project plans, including resource allocation, schedules, and timelines, and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

  • Liaise closely with other departments, stakeholders, and clients to clearly define project objectives, deliverables, and performance measures.

  • Actively monitor, track, and manage project tasks, timelines, attainment of milestones and overall quality of project activities and deliverables

  • Regularly report on project progress to stakeholders, identifying and addressing any issues or delays promptly.

  • Foster an environment that encourages continuous learning, improvement, and innovation within the team.

  • Manage the resolution of contractual and commercial issues and disputes.

  • Ensure that departmental standards and processes are maintained and updated in line with industry developments.

  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety standards in compliance with company policy to ensure a safe working environment.

To be successful you must have …

  • Excellent knowledge of Project Management methodologies and responsibilities.

  • Leadership, communication, negotiating, influencing and inter-personal skills, with the drive and commitment to achieve project deliverables.

  • Detail-oriented mindset to manage complex projects and processes.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate a team towards achieving project goals.

  • An innovative thinker who can identify opportunities for improving efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Excellent problem-solving ability.

  • Broad range of communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients, senior management and shop floor personnel.

  • Coaching others to achieve improved performance and personal development.

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential) ..

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or suitable experience backed up by an appropriate engineering qualification.

  • Experience working in lean and continuous improvement environment and of using associated operational excellence and growth tools and processes.

  • Experience with Formal Talent development, coaching and mentoring and succession planning.

  • Ability to understand general compressor operations.
