AES, a Fortune 200 international energy company, seeks a corporate attorney to provide Indiana State and Federal regulatory advice and counsel to its U.S. Strategic Business Unit and its affiliate and the Indianapolis Power and Light Company. This position reports to US SBU Assistant General Counsel and provides in-house support for a wide variety of Indiana State and Federal Regulatory initiatives.

An attorney in this position will be required to work as part of a cross-functional team in a collaborative way and must be aware of, and take into account, interests of internal and external stakeholders. This attorney will be responsible for initiating action with respect to, and carrying forward to conclusion, in a timely manner routine and complex legal matters concerning Indiana Public Utility Regulatory law. Experience with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission required in the areas of rate setting, cost recovery actions, Commission inquiries and investigations, compliance, and other similar matters. Experience in the areas of the Federal Electric Regulatory Commission and the MISO Regional Transmission Organization is strongly preferred.

J.D. from an accredited law school and minimum of five years of relevant regulatory experience required. This position will also be assigned other responsibilities as appropriate.

  • Independent, self-driven personality capable of accomplishing goals with only general supervision

  • Superior organizational/multi-tasking skills

  • Requires the ability to manage time very well, to quickly adapt to changing schedules and work assignments. Must also be able to communicate well with other employees at all levels of the company.
