Learn more about Aeon at www.aeon.org. Position Summary We are adding a Roving Chief Boiler Operator to our Roving Maintenance Team at Aeon! The Roving Chief Boiler Operator will perform preventative, routine and reactive maintenance on production equipment at all Aeon properties, which includes boilers, feed pumps, water softeners, etc... This seasoned maintenance professional with high-level apartment maintenance skills will be seen as a go-to resource for property and central office teams in relation to on-site production equipment. The Roving Chief Boiler Operator will report to the Director of Facilities. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide leadership in operating and maintaining production equipment which includes boilers, feed pumps, condensate pumps, controls, water softeners, steam traps and valves. Operate and maintain emergency generators and domestic water booster pumps Maintain the boiler plants at Aeon properties throughout our portfolios Oversee chemical results from seasonal testing, make recommended adjustments as needed and track chemical inventory Maintain accurate licensing and boilers logs where required Understand the goals of the organization and department, prioritize work requests in order to meet those goals Monitor plants, coordinate with staff on alarms and make adjustments as needed Work closely with vendors when needed, collecting RFPs, requesting bid approvals and managing vendor work and relationships Support the training and mentorship of Aeon maintenance professionals as needed Perform other general maintenance activities as directed Skills & Qualifications State of Minnesota Engineer License Chief Class B is required Demonstrated high-level knowledge, skills and abilities related to production equipment like boilers, feed pumps, condensate pumps, controls, water softeners, steam traps and valves High-level skills in apartment maintenance Demonstrated success in troubleshooting and repairing equipment under extreme emergency situations At least 2 years of experience in building maintenance Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to effectively interact with vendors, co-workers and others Ability to engage in interpersonal communication that is culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations Must have a commitment to learning and participating in Aeon's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts Possess a prideful work ethic and be a team player Possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and vehicle insurance Own basic tools Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend and kneel for extended periods of time Ability to complete daily tours between properties including but not limited to inspecting grounds, common areas, hallways, stairwell and apartment homes Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally Ability to reach above and below the shoulders Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist and pull Ability to withstand external weather conditions such as working outside in the rain, cold, heat or other adverse weather Ability to quickly respond to sights and sounds that may pose a threat to persons or property Compensation Compensation is commensurate with experience.
