JPMorgan Chase & Co.JOB TITLE: Equity ResearchLOCATION: 383 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10179. This position requires up to 20% travel (domestic and international). Telecommuting permitted up to 20% of the week.DUTIES: Perform core fundamental research on the Oil & Gas industry, including Exploration and Production (E&P) and Oilfield Services (OFS) sectors, with emphasis on gaining insight on overall macro trends in the industry and business performance of companies in the sector. Prepare stock recommendations and price targets for companies under coverage. Develop and maintain detailed three-statement (cash flow, balance sheet, and income statement) financial models with projections. Apply sophisticated statistical techniques to forecast financial results using Excel (advanced indexing and lookups, macros, pivot tables) and Bloomberg. Prepare wide range of detailed equity valuations (including discounted cash flow, net asset value, and relative multiples like EV/EBITDA, FCF Yield, etc.) to drive stock recommendations and price targets. Create, analyze, and maintain proprietary production model forecasts for E&P-related companies in J.P. Morgan’s coverage universe, after effectively collaborating with research partners across asset class and geography. Analyze performance of companies in the oil and gas industry leveraging earnings releases, regulatory filings, news items, andproprietary research. Understand key sector-related developments. Produce proprietary analyses for J.P. Morgan’s research publications. Work closely with sales teams and traders to provide comprehensive client coverage, including fulfilling client requests for market updates and market intelligence, addressing client inquiries through various methodsof communication such as email/phone/meetings. Track and analyzedata from third party data providers including Enverus and Bloomberg. Analyze and perform due diligence on IPO candidates in the E&P andOFS sectors. Work with management teams to develop financial models, and refine the articulation of their business proposition.REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), Finance, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or as Equity Research Analyst/Associate, Investment Banking Analyst/Associate, Manager, Procurements and Contracts Department or related occupation. Requires 1 year (12 months) of experience in the oil and gas industry. Also requires experience in the following: Key drivers, major legislation, regulations (drilling techniques, environmental emission norms, windfall taxes, and royalty rates), and essential terminology (drilling techniques, decline rates, and types of oilfield services equipment) in the Exploration and Production (E&P) and Oilfield Ser-vices (OFS) sectors; Financial projections of the three financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statements), incorporating historical trends, management guidance, supply-demand forecasts, and competitive dynamics; Valuation frameworks for oil and gas businesses, using various financial modelling techniques including discounted cash flow, dividend discount modelling, net asset value, and relative valuation methods including free cash flow yield, Enterprise Value to EBITDAX, price to net asset value; Analyzing gas reserve estimates based on FASB Code 932 (including proved developed and proved undeveloped reserves); Applying advanced accounting concepts to oil and gas companies, including successful efforts vs. full cost ac-counting and net operating losses under Sections 172 and 382 of the Internal Revenue Code; Expressing complex financial analysis, sector level trends, and business performance through comprehensively and compellingly written research reports; Gathering publicly available data through web scraping, and analyzing that data along with third-party data and regulatory filings using advanced Excel features including VBA Macros, advanced indexing, and look-ups.Full-time.
