Machine Operator – Machine Support

Reports To: Machining Area Manager

Position Summary :

Join our innovative team as a Machine Operator and play a crucial role in the smooth running of our automated bar feed machines. This position involves not only maintaining machines stocked with essential materials like bars, oil, and coolant, but also optimizing our production process to enhance efficiency and quality.

Key Responsibilities :

Preparation and Precision : Ready bars for production by sanding and cutting bar stock to supply multiple departments.

Maintenance and Upkeep : Manage and replenish oil and coolant levels, ensuring machines operate at peak performance. Handle routine maintenance tasks such as replacing air filters and changing tooling on equipment, along with monitoring and maintaining concentrate levels for precision tools. Efficiently remove bar ends and scrap, contributing to our sustainability efforts.

Cleanliness and Order : Maintain a pristine work environment through daily cleaning of machines and areas, adhering to our 5S cleanliness and organization standards.

Collaborative Problem-Solving : Actively participate in team meetings to boost performance, solve production challenges, enhance safety, and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Training and Development : Train peers in various job tasks across product centers and support areas, sharing knowledge and fostering a team-oriented culture.

Adaptability : Willingly work overtime as necessary and take on additional responsibilities to ensure seamless operations.

We’re looking for a team player with :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic math and computer skills, including proficiency with tablets.

  • Skilled in using measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of cutting tools, with expertise in swapping saw blades, turning inserts, and other equipment components.

  • Excellent communication skills.

    Physical Requirements :

    1. Normal, corrective vision range; ability to see color and to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

    2. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach.

    3. Ability to reach with hands and arms.

    4. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
