Greene County Adult Probation Department- Greene Leaf Program Counselor in XENIA, Ohio

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Coordinator for the Greene Leaf Programs and the Director of Greene County Adult Probation Department, the Greene Leaf (GL) Counselor will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of clinical services including, but not limited to, chemical dependency, mental health and family counseling within a residential substance abuse treatment program for adult offenders incarcerated in a jail environment.  The GL Counselor will be responsible for day-to-day operations including individual caseload management, individual and group treatment session facilitation and ensuring continuous quality improvement of clinical services.  The GL Counselor will also participate in activities which foster a safe and secure environment within the Greene County Jail and Adult Detention Center.  Additional duties may be assigned as needed.   Full-time Monday-Friday, 730-4pm, ½ hour lunch *Pay non-negotiable

 

Duties/Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY   These duties are a representative sample. Position assignments may vary)

  • Assists the Program Coordinator in an on-going analysis and development of clinical goals & objectives
  • Participates in team and all-staff meetings as scheduled
  • Ability to work well with co-workers, jail staff and maintain professionalism
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Assures that Greene Leaf, Adult Probation Department, Greene County Jail and Adult Detention Center policies & procedures are complied with in accordance with all applicable governing boards and federal, state & local authority
  • Collects, prepares, and submits timely monthly reports as directed
  • Responsible for the supervision of all assigned clients within the residential treatment program
  • Enforces Greene Leaf program policies, procedures, rules, and directives in a firm, fair, and consistent manner, facilitating client treatment planning ensuring clients move through treatment in a deliberate, therapeutic manner
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities relevant to clinical services
  • Plans, develops, coordinates treatment services specific to an area of expertise (i.e.: chemical dependency, family services, and mental health services)
  • Provides an ongoing assessment of client needs
  • Follows and enforces the safety and security policies and procedures of the Greene County Adult Detention Center and Jail. 
  • Transport clients in county vehicles as necessary
  • Prepares treatment updates/progress reports for referring and supervising authorities
  • Reviews resident reports and/or requests and responds in a timely manner
  • Maintains treatment records according to policy and accreditation standards
  • Maintains strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained and processed in the operation of the facility and treatment program

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Any combination of education and experience.

Working knowledge of present and evolving clinical assessment & treatment services, including chemical dependency, mental health, family systems, and criminality

Working knowledge of 12-Step recovery programs

Ability to develop, implement and evaluate clinical services

Interpersonal communication skills required to engage and sustain working relationships with clients, clients' families, staff, community resources and the general public
